Printing Options
For selecting
Microthin plywood for one’s
Business Cards, he will have
a reason to do so. It is the overall projection of the image of his
self, or looked at it differently, the image he wants to project to
the receiver of the business card or invitation card. Prime among the
reasons is the wood feel, texture of the wood selected and the
uniqueness of the card. But several considerations go into the
decision as to the form the card should ultimately take.
It is a combination of various factors like the selection of wood
species, the art work and the printing options best suited for a
particular art work. Since printing on wood
veneer requires specialized
skill, we give below a few printing options best suited for printing
on Microthin plywood considering the characteristics of the wood
surface. There are lot more printing methods other than this which is
in Nissiwood's research.

SCREEN
PRINTING
For normal
business cards,
invitation cards, book marks etc. screen printing is best suited.
Almost all species of Micro thin plywood are suitable for screen
printing. One color printing, against the wood back-drop gives the
best appearance. Printing in two contrasting colors is also
recommended, though up to four colors are technically feasible.
Fonts should be selected with emphasis on the sharpness of letters.
Disadvantage is that shades are not possible.
Perfumed wood business cards
also can be printed using screen printing. |
OFFSET PRINTING
Offset printing is
recommended for only a few selected species. Printing is done by
specialized technicians applying his skill depending on the
characteristics of the wood species. Selected species treated at the
manufacturing stage for surface smoothening, flexibility, perfect
edges to attain easy feeding into the printer is used for offset
printing. Offset printing is resorted to for larger or bulk quantities thereby
reducing the overall cost of the printed material. |
LASER ENGRAVING
Laser etching can be used
on most of the lighter colored wood species.
Laser engraved cards with
their wood-burn effect gives a rugged and fire reminiscent primordial
appearance. These look very elegant. |
COMBO CARD PRINTING
For wide choices of
number and combinations of colors, combo cards are best suited. This
is one side paper and other side real wood. Multicolor matter can be
printed on the paper side of the card. This way the user will have
wide range of art work options at the same time retaining the wood
feel and texture. Combo Business cards are less expensive. |
